Diary of a Christian Divorce

Bio

My Story

I became a Christian when I was 11, but, even then, always felt the call of God on my life. I was old when I was young! My parents sent my brothers and sisters and I to Sunday School to get some peace and quiet. This is my very short biography, such as it is.

I loved learning and learnt to play the piano (in my garage - no room in the house) because I'd been so mesmerised when I had seen a blind lady play the piano. I can play for services, but am a little rusty at the moment. God led me to help with Sunday School, kids club and a girls craft group.

I lived on a narrowboat for a while and that was a blessing getting to know the communities around me. I was led to become a Waterways Chaplain and that has been a deep priveledge to serve out waterways communities and help build up the wonderful teams of volunteeers

I have worked in business but am now also a retired teacher of RE, Philosophy and Ethics, a Waterways Chaplain, gardener and a dog owner. I'm also divorced.

Being divorced doesn't define me, though.

The publication of this diary was 30 years in the making. And yet it wasn’t.
I never imagined I would share it with anyone at all. My closest friends didn’t even know it existed for years. How could I share the thoughts of these dark times?

All this time I’ve sadly heard of Christian couples separating, divorcing and leaving their local Church and perhaps turned their back on any Church and/or their Lord.

I don’t think there is anything like this diary out there. Who in their right mind would publish? But, all this time there has been a constant prompting, a nagging that it needs to be done.

I'm actually a shy person at heart, but God gives me strength to speak and share, so I'm publishing in faith.

I currently live in Norfolk after retiring from teaching. Although Norfolk is very flat, I love holidaying in Scotland. I have a small dog, Maggie, who is a darling. I am now a deacon at a small local church and am, again, blessed to be able to serve our dear Lord and Saviour.
